Michael has been playing trumpet professionally in New York's Capital District for the last 8 years, and at the age of 25, is one of the youngest, most active trumpet players in the area. Michael's playing has taken him all over the northeastern United States, as well as having toured Europe with the American Music Abroad Wind and Jazz Ensembles. He has held Lead and Principal positions with various performing ensembles at Schenectady County Community College, The College of Saint Rose, and with the University at Albany Symphony Orchestra. He has also played with the Blue Mile Brass Quintet, the Mohawk Brass, Vehicle, The New York Players, City Rhythm, Body and Soul, The Georgie Wonders Orchestra, Nite Train with the High Voltage Horns, The Capital Region Wind Ensemble, and has played and recorded with The Joey Thomas Big Band and the Empire Jazz Orchestra, including performances with jazz greats Wycliffe Gordon and Rufus Reid. He has been hired for pit orchestras for a number of area high school and semi-professional productions. He can be heard on Colleen Pratt's latest album with the Empire Jazz Orchestra "I Thought About You", as well as English recording artist John Garrison's recent United States solo debut album, "Above the Cosmos". Currently in addition to actively freelancing, he plays Lead Trumpet with one of the Northeast's most in-demand horn bands, The Refrigerators.
